The graphic settings of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds can be optimized to increase your FPS and improve your gameplay.

On the web, you can find several configuration files to replace yours and boost the fps. Honestly, I don't like this approach because I want to know exactly what I am changing, so I decided to review all the options in this article.

These adjustments are useful if you are struggling to reach an acceptable amount of fps as you are using a low-spec PC, but also if you have a monitor with a high refresh-rate as you bought it to gain an edge in a competitive shooter such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Launch PUBG, click the Options icon on the top right, select Settings on the menu, and open the Graphics tab. How to reverse a clip in imovie iphone. I will show you how to set up each option for maximum performance.

Display settings

  • Display Mode: Full Screen.

Full Screen is the best choice performance-wise, but you might prefer Borderless Window if you have a multi-monitor setup and you wish to move quickly on another display. Coreldraw 21 2 0 708.

How to get monitor serial number through command prompt. Note: you can switch from Full Screen to Borderless Window by pressing Alt+Enter on the keyboard.

  • Resolution: use your native one.

Using your native resolution is desirable for a better view, but if you badly need a performance boost, decreasing the resolution will greatly improve your fps. 720p is usually a solid compromise between quality and performance.

  • Lobby FPS Cap: this is a personal preference that doesn‘t affect the gameplay.

  • In-Game FPS Cap: Unlimited or Display Based.

For most players, I suggest using Display Based because it will cap the fps at the same value of your monitor refresh rate (60, 120, 144Hz, etc.)

Note that unlocking the frame rate might cause overheating problems if your system isn't cooled properly as the game will try to render as many frames as possible.

  • Smoothed Frame Rate: Off.

You want this option disabled because it adds input lag. It is available only if you set In-Game FPS Cap to unlimited.

Advanced settings

  • Render Scale: 100 or 90.

I recommend to not change this setting unless you really need more fps. Decreasing the value below 100 will grant more performance at the cost of blurred textures. 75 is the minimum value you should consider.

  • FPP Camera FOV: 103.

This is a very personal choice, but almost all the pro players prefer to maximize the FoV in PUBG.

A wider field of view (FOV) increases your peripheral vision, but at the same time all the targets are smaller, and it can cause a fisheye effect. In any case, lower values will improve your performance.

  • Overall Graphics Quality: Custom.

We will review each option individually.

  • Anti-Aliasing: Very Low.

Huge fps impact. Very Low disables Anti-Aliasing completely, Low uses FXAA, while Medium and above enable TAA.

There is a noticeable quality difference between FXAA and TAA, so if you really want to enable it at the cost of your fps, I suggest using the latter.

  • Post-Processing: Very Low.

Only small visual changes.

  • Shadows: Very Low.

It is one of the settings with the biggest impact on the fps.

  • Textures: Medium/High.

The texture quality doesn‘t affect a lot the frame rate as it mostly only drains VRAM. If your video card has at least 3-4GB VRAM, I suggest putting it at Medium or High as the game will look a lot better.

  • Effects: Very Low.

Note that this option also affects the flashing of enemy guns, so using higher settings may help to detect them. It brings a significant fps drop.

  • Foliage: Very Low.

This option doesn't influence the foliage density anymore.

  • View Distance: Medium/High.

It barely affects your fps. I suggest keeping it to Medium/High over Very Low in order to reduce stuttering as the graphic engine won't spend as much time showing/hiding objects.

  • Sharpen: Enable.

Sharpen only costs a few frames. It improves the overall look of the game.

  • V-Sync: Disable.

Generally, I recommend disabling any option that can interfere with your gameplay by adding additional effects on the screen.

  • Click Apply to save the changes.

GameUserSettings.ini

A quick tip on the GameUserSettings.ini: do not edit it!

It looks like the devs accepted some modifications in the past, but now tweaking it might get you banned, so I won't provide any info about it.

We could have gained extra fps, but unfortunately the settings file was abused by many players to improve their gameplay also with not legit methods.
